Dear Members,
Thank you for attending The Gratitude Group's
first annual Cinco de Mayo fundraising event on May 3, 2009. Everyone who purchased a table or seat, worked as a volunteer,
or acted as a corporate sponsor, was made a member of The Gratitude Group for 2009-2010. As a member, you will receive periodic
progress reports and financial updates as we continue to refurbish the Glass House and the Holden House. The first of
our financial reports to our members is included with this letter and it provides detailed results from the Cinco de Mayo
event.
The goal of the Cinco
de Mayo event was the purchase of new bedding for both the Holden House and the Glass House. On May 8, 2009, The Gratitude
Group submitted a purchase order and a 50% deposit to Capitol Bedding in Lansing, MI, for the purchase of (28) Mattresses
and (14) Box Springs!
Allow
me to quote Bill Beuerle, President of Capitol Bedding, in describing the new bedding that your generosity made possible:
"We manufacture an inverted
seam mattress for Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, Notre Dame and many other schools. This mattress
is made with a wet-proof breathable cover with the seam in the center of the border. It is an innerspring mattress with
very high quality foam. The box spring is covered with the same fabric. The mattress and box spring are the most
"fire-safe" designs we have, meeting all mandated flammability standards and more".
This new bedding will be picked up by our volunteers
from Capitol Bedding, and delivered and installed as replacement bedding for both houses
As you lay down for the night in your own comfortable bed, rest assured
that because of your generosity, there are men and women - new in recovery - that will be lying down for the night in
a comfortable bed of their own. On their behalf, thank you very much.
May God bless and keep you.
